Správa Európskej komisie o tom, že Grécko si neplní svoje povinnosti, má tiež už niečo vyše 4 rokov.
Richard Sulík pravdepodobne naráža na správu, ktorá hodnotila plnenie Schengenských dohôd v Grécku pre roky 2010-2011 a ktorá skutocne upozornovala na nedostatky zo stany Grécka v chránení vonkajších schengenských hraníc- pevninských i námorných. Výrok hodnotíme ako pravdivý.
"The Council Conclusions on the Schengen evaluation of Greece of December 2011 state that there are still serious shortcomings which have to be corrected in order to have Greece perform border checks in a satisfactory manner. Ministers strongly urge the Greek authorities to undertake all necessary action to comply with the existing acquis, namely to ensure adequate border controls as well as establishing a functioning asylum system."(.pdf,s.5-6).
V správe z roku 2012(.pdf,s.6) sú už zaznamenané isté pokroky v implementácii Schengenských dohôd, no urcité nedostatky v ochrane hraníc stále pretrvávali: "Moreover, from 28 May to 2 June 2012, a peer-to-peer mission to Greece was carried out in order to assess the progress of the Greek action plan to remedy the shortcomings detected in the Schengen evaluation in 2010-2011 and to identify topics where Member States could offer assistance. This mission went to the Athens International Airport 'Eleftherios Venizelos', the
Port of Piraeus and the Evros region and hence covered all types of borders. It was noted that
although visible improvements have been made, these still need to be fostered and advanced. "
V roku 2014 (.pdf,s.6) bola už v správe kritizovaná skôr ochrana grécko-bulharskej hranice, ochrana grécko-tureckej hranice sa v správe nespomína.
